As a native of Campobello, SC. I attended Campobello Gramling School and graduated from Landrum High School. After 2 years at Spartanburg Methodist College I joined the US Army and served overseas and in the USA.
After I was honorably discharged I came home and worked as a restaurant manager for several years before making a decision on my future career.
When my son started school I decided to return to school as well. I would use my GI Bill benefits to become a massage therapist.
I chose the program at Greenville Technical College which is highly rated among other colleges for its Massage Therapy program. The program at Greenville Technical College was started by the founding member of the Board for Licensed Massage Therapists. The program director and professors are some of the most skilled and highly reputable in the industry.
The academic work in the sciences and anatomy were challenging but it was all worth while when we became immersed in the world of massage modalities and massage techniques. The skills taught ranged from Reflexology, Prenatal Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, Goal Oriented, Chair Massage and Swedish Massage.
For my specialty I elected Sports Massage with the program director. This modality has proven time and time again to be the most valuable to me.
During my training I was able to work with the football program at Clemson University and work alongside trainers and my professor to learn Sports Massage. I was one of two chosen to intern at Clemson to work with the athletes on Sundays to learn even more.
Working with this team for the season was the highlight of my year at school. The state requires 530 contact hours to take board exams for massage. Through my program I was accredited with close to 1000 hours of contact training. I think my clients can immediately recognize the difference this extra training makes when they tell me what they would like to address and the insight I can offer to address them. There is no substitute for the hundreds of hours of extra practice and exposure to so many different injures.
My dream was to open a massage business in Campobello SC, my hometown, and show the community how massage therapy can add to well-being. Now I am happy to offer my services to Inman, SC after operating in Campobello to expand my services.
After doing mobile massage in the community and working with a chiropractor in Greenville, SC. I had the opportunity to open my studio, Peace of Mind Massage Therapy, and realize my dream.
In our first year we are exceeding our goals and helping the community grow and become more self-aware. We have clients from the surrounding area with many different goals. Some, as you can read on this site, are using massage as an incentive to stay true to their exercise programs. Some of our clients are seeking relief from sciatic nerve pain and others are seeking to relive pain from excessive exertion. Regardless of what you seek from massage therapy we are here to help.
We are conveniently located to those in Tryon NC, Landrum SC, Greer SC and Glassy Mountain SC, Inman, SC.
The community and clientele have been a blessing to me and my son and I want to thank all of our present clients and welcome those of you who have not yet visited...
